Rudolf H Buenz Stained Glass Studio had several apprentices and associated studios over its many years of operation. Below are some of the individuals and studios that have shared stories about Rudi.
Mary Beth of Glass Horse Studio apprenticed with Rudi in the 1980s and carries on the tradition and craftmanship she learned at his studio. She now operates her studio with her daughter in ________, ________.
Gordon Henderson, of Racine Art Glass mentions working with Rudi on church window projects in his website’s “about” section.
Charles Ziegler Lawrence, or CZ as he was known, was an apprentice and friend of Rudi. CZ was an accomplished artist, with work featured in the National Cathedral and Smithsonian. He worked under the Rudolf H Buenz Studio starting in 1956 until moving to New York for schooling, and then Philadelphia, where Lawrence established his own studio in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia after 1980. CZ passed away in 2019, but left a golden legacy behind and often credited Rudi for his teachings, fondly calling him “The Maestro”.
